Life is hard on Phobos, one of two Martian moons, most of the inhabitants work in the iron mines and the only recreation is nights in the nearest bar drinking to forget all the burdens and hardships of the alien moon. Because of the unpleasant life Kara, upon turning eighteen is sent off to an arranged marriage on another planet to someone twice her age. The arrangement was mostly of great benefit to her parents as there was a sizable dowry they would receive once Kara married her intended husband.

Once aboard the transport, they had only been en route to Uranus less than a day when the transport ran directly through an immense meteor storm. The storm lasted more than a week and the transport suffered severe damage. The endless barrage of meteors pushed the space transport off course and left it stranded in space far from its destination. Everyone on board makes a mad dash to the lone Escape Pod to seek a safe place to land.

However, in the chaos of the storm and the panic of the crew and passengers, all were swept into the void of space except Kara. Miraculously she makes it to the battered pod which is on a collision course for a habitable moon of some unknown planet. Kara hears a voice offering to save her. Then loses consciousness before the crash. Dazed but unharmed she wakes on a small moon with a temperate Earthlike atmosphere and inhabited by a single dark humanoid female, Lida.
