 THE CRACKED ARTIFACT

Steph a curator at a museum examines a new artifact inspecting it for accuracy she gets sprayed by a strange liquid that emerged from a crack in the artifact.

Steph works at a museum as a curator and her daily routine consists of examining new acquisitions for display and authenticity. During her examination she discovers a crack in the artifact and when she looks closer, a strange, sweet-smelling liquid shoots from the crack and covers her face and neck. Upon investigation, she sees the crack has miraculously disappeared and the liquid seemed to have no ill effect on her. She debates whether to alert her boss but realizes her boss April will blow the incident out of proportion and decides not to tell her.

Leaving work Steph heads to her yoga class and during the class characteristically she finds herself deeply attracted to her yoga instructor, while sorting her emotions about her instructor she has a sudden urge to use the restroom but is unable to because of the class rules. She suffers through the class just waiting anxiously for the class to end and use the restroom. At the end of class, her quick retreat to the restroom is interrupted by her instructor who reminds her of the promised private lessons. Somehow she and the instructor work out her urge to relieve her bladder and end the session exhausted.

When Steph leaves her yoga class another strange feeling takes over her body while she is driving from her class. In a surreal moment, Steph feels a fullness in her stomach and other symptoms that lead her to believe she is pregnant. Knowing that is not possible she thinks about the cracked artifact and the sweet-smelling liquid and wonders if that could be the cause of this crazy aberration. She arrives home famished and literally eats everything in sight including an entire bottle of wine. When she falls asleep a horrendous nightmare plagued her slumber. A horrific dream about the incident with the cracked artifact. When she wakes a strange voice inside her begins telling her what’s in store for her and that she is about to experience extreme power.

Melody wanted to take a vacation, one that was different than cruises and beaches and drinking in the sun. She wanted something really special. Using a travel agent to help her find the perfect vacation she runs across a brochure for ‘Lexis Associates Unique, Custom-Designed Vacations for the Discerning Female.’ The travel agent tells her she has only heard good things about the company.

After filling out a strange questionnaire so the company can design the perfect vacation for Melody she learns that she has to wait to be accepted by the company. Surely something very odd about that Melody thought and decided to forget the trip altogether. Surprisingly, Melody is accepted and is told her vacation will be a total immersion experience and they would come and get her at an undisclosed time.

Still quite uncertain about the vacation, Melody had forgotten all about it and didn't hear any more from Lexis Associates. Then one day after work she hails a cab to return home like she always does. As she is looking outside the taxi, she watches the people and buildings pass by the window, That is the last thing Melody remembers until she wakes up strapped to a hospital bed in a blindingly bright light.
